Can not remove network protocol

I can not remove the "Network Capture Driver" from the system neither can i unbind it from the internet connection. ICF is off the firewall is NIS4. Only other bound protocol on the connection is TCP/IP. Client for MS Network and file and printer sharing are active on the LAN connection. The protocol seems to have appeared without the user installing it specifically. I want rid! Any ideas?

RussBic, is the connection active while you're trying to uninstall?
If this is on Pro, are you logged in as an Admin?

had simislar problem here... fdisk, format and installation of Win2k solved it :D

I reckon it was down to an IRQ conflict. When I tried to uninstall protocol, remove NIC from dev manager, or even physcially remove card (!!) I got BSOD when I booted back into normal Win98.

My NIC was assigned IRQ 10 and so was my soundcard - that was the only thing I could think of. It was fine for ages, till I upgraded mobo... didn't actually install any other protocols and things were actaully pretty sweet till I worked out I culdn't remove any protocols...

got any on-board chips (sound, network, modem) that you can disable...?

No the connection is not active and yes im logged in as administator. How about the error message :)

"Could not uninstall the Network Monitor Driver component. Network Monitor driver is still required by the following component(s) and can not be unistalled until those componenents are unistalled:

Network Monitor Capture Utility (NetCap)"

That is not in my protocol list and its not an active service as far as I can see.

I found this in a KB article:

To remove the Network Monitor driver, use the following command:

netcap /remove
