I recently bought a lanready router so that I could network my computer with my sons so that we could share the DSL internet connection. I followed the instructions (Or at least I think I have) and can not get a connection on my machine.

The instructions tell me to plug the Cat 5 cable frm teh router to my pc, go to the TCP/IP settings and set them for the range of 192.169.0.1 to 192.168.0.253 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and to turn off the HTTP proxy server.

Then the instructions tell me to plug the ac power in the router and wait for it to boot up.... I did that...

it then tells me to go to http://192.168.0.254 for the configuration utlity. It's at this point where I have trouble. I can't get that page to load.

and if I connect the lan port for my sons machine to the router.. and the wan cable from the DSL modem to the router I get no connection to the internet....

Any one have any clue what I'm doing wrong..... Getting mighty stumped here.... and the Twelve year old who just HAS to go to Toonami.com is driving me nuts...

Thanks... :)

I'm a bit confused. First, what brand of router did you buy and are you going from a proxy server to a DSL router? and can the two computers "see" each other? If it's a LinkSys router, I can help you as I've set many of those up and they are super easy.

set your ip onyour machine to 192.168.0.1 then you will be able to bring your router http config page up to set DHCP and NAT on your little router

I thought I might give you some background info on your problem,

for the instructions to say to set your ip in a range the range you gave here all addresses won't work with that entered subnet mask, the ip I gave you of course will be in the same network as the router's configured ip and will come up inyour browser

Hope this helps

Hi...

Thanks for the help.... I set the IP to the 192.168.0.1 with the subnet of 255.255.255.0 and i couldn't bring up the web config page... :( I'm beginning to think there is something wrong wit hthe router itself... gonna go tomorrow and invest in a Dlink or Linksys router... and try that....

Set your IP to DHCP and you shouldn't have any problem logging in to your admin CP.

I would also check link lights on your network card and such.
