Any free stuff I can use? ------------------ The Data Circuit has Melted. ad3p4 October 5th, 2001, 07:09 PM You heard wrong. Symantec (http://www.symantec.com/), Trend Micro (http://www.antivirus.com/), McAfee (http://www.mcafee.com/), Sophos (http://www.sophos.com/) and Kaspersky Labs (http://www.kaspersky.com/) offer online scanning for or trial versions. I would recommend them in the order that they appear here, but that is a personal choice. These companies spend a lot of time tweaking their products. Most are excellent, none are bad. Give them a try, but plan on buying one soon - consider it insurance http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum1/noncgi/cwmsmilies/cwm1.gif As for free products, I found this link: WebAttack (http://www.webattack.com/Freeware/security/fwvirus.shtml), ------------------ http://www3.sympatico.ca/corey.reynolds/avatars/cdnflag2.gif "Expect the unexpected" ------------------ Darren Wilson October 5th, 2001, 07:33 PM <font face="Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Geneva" size="2">Originally posted by Medianox: I heard Norton 2001 antivirus does not work. I was using it myself ubder XP Pro OEM until recently when I upgraded it to 2002 (for free as if I had to buy the upgrade I would have stuck with 2001). ------------------ System Specs Abit KT7A-RAID (Rock F'n Solid!!!) - AMD Athlon 1Ghz (10x100) - 1024Mb PC133 SDRAM - ATI Radeon (AGP4X) - Maxtor ATA100 30Gb - 2 x Seagate ATA66 (RAID 0 totalling 26Gb) - Toshiba SD-1202M DVD - Plextor PlexWriter 2410A (Buy One!!!!) - Creative Labs SB Live! Value (No Pops , Hiss or Crackles here) - 20" Eizo Flexscan Monitor - Microsoft Windows XP Professional OEM Final Release Cobra October 5th, 2001, 08:39 PM NAV 2002 does work and it works quite nicely. I'd recommend it over 2001 any day. ------------------ "Black in the Sun What have I done? And as the name suggests it is free to the private user. ------------------ Regards Steve Morrish... you gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need.... Vette2000 October 18th, 2001, 10:31 PM Like ad3p4 said thise seem to be the best free trial programs out there(in pretty good order I might add!). If you ever get in a jam with a virus that disables your antivirus or stops you from accessing these sites, or your on site and the customer has not updated their antivirus since 1883, try http://housecall.antivirus.com it's helped me MANY times and it's a lot faster than updating their stuff for them!..... http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum1/noncgi/cwmsmilies/cwm35.gif ------------------ If walking is so good for you, then why does my mailman look like Jabba The Hut? windrivers.com
