No matter how many times I tell it to hide the LAN icon by the clock it keeps coming up. I know I can get rid of it by disabaling my NIC, but I'd rather keep it up so that it's a little easier when I plug in my laptop to my home network.

Anyway, my question is, has anyone else run into the problem of icons refusing to hide when they are inactive? If so, what's the fix?

There are 2 methods in which you can hide the icon...

1) Go to Connection Properties, uncheck the bottom dialog box that says to show the icon.
2) Right click the Taskbar, next to "Hide Inactive Icons", make sure it is checked off. Choose Customize, find the Conenction icon, choose Always Hide.

I don't know if you've tried BOTH of these methods..but there they are.
