no icons showing up on desktop

okay, just installed XP Pro and the install went smoothly,but when it booted to the desktop, there were NO icons. all i get is the Recycle bin icon on the desktop. i've checked 'show the desktop' or 'show desktop icons'. nothing works. anyone have this problem and know how to fix it. thats the way it installed.

well i sort of figured it out, i switched to classic style and the icons are there. but going back to XP style there are no icons. are there suppose to be icons for XP style?

Go to the "Desktop" tab in the display properties, click on "Customize Desktop", then put a check next to the icons you want to show up on your desktop.

It's obvious that MS is under the opinion that the only desktop icon needed when running Luna is the Recycle Bin. I'm not quite sure why.
