I am thinking about moving to windows XP. I currently use W2K, but probably need only home edn. of XP, but can not use a simple upgrade. To save money I thought about reinstalling 98, then getting the upgrade to XP. Someone told me that this would not be as good as a `clean install` of xp. Is that true? I don`t mind about re-installing all my old software, and importing e-mail folders etc.

The "upgrade" CD is actually a full install CD as long as you have a valid serial number for 98.

And yes, a clean install will be more stable and efficient in operation.
