Hi!

I recommend you to download any drivers because XP will install defaults drivers for all your programs. I had no problems with these drivers.

All the programs that work with 2000 and 98 will "work" quite fine on XP. Some are really buggy like Easy CD.

Good luck!

By the way, do a full install.

Best thing to do is go to http://www.pcpitstop.com/xpready/default.asp for a quick test of your system for Windows XP. It will analyze your hardware and software and will tell you if there are any things you should be aware of. It's not a complete test, but it's a start.

If compatibility is your main concern, I recommend that you wait a few months before upgrading to Windows XP. That will give the hardware and software manufacturers some time to release updated drivers and programs that are guaranteed to work with XP. I'm not saying XP has major compatibility issues because it doesn't, but if you upgrade now and your digital camera, for example, doesn't work, and you need it to make a living, then.......

If you're absolutely dying to try XP but still need a functioning computer, then go with a dual boot or install XP on another hard drive.

if the program will not work XP has a emulator built into it. I ahd a app that would not run so i set the app to be emulated for windows 2000 worked great. (you can also choose 95, 98, me)

Mirc & DiVX 'The Playa' both work fine under XP. ICQ has a couple of bugs but it wil work & I haven't used MicroDVD.
