Well I'm going to put Win2K Advanced Server on my moms computer to start learning it and I need to know how to back up their contacts in Outlook 2000 and if its possible their old emails aswell. Oh and also how to restore them would be great to.

Thanks in advance.

In Outlook, go to file - Import & Export. Select which folders you want to back up and then export them to a PST file. If you want to bring the backup into a fresh install of Outlook do the same but import from file instead.

Will that back up my contacts as well?

And how do I back up my Favorites in Internet Explorer? I'm useing IE6.0 but I don't think this should make a difference.

Yes, that will.

As for the favs, just grab the Favorites folder out of the Windows -or- WinNT folder.

Yes if you select the 'Outlook Today (personal Folders)' as the source.

Another way would be to snag the *.pst file that currently holds the contacts, and import that when you set up Outlook on the Win2k Adv Server.

I know this is a late add-on, but I found a little Outlook 2000 tweak in MS DB, called pfbackup.exe. It adds a backup selection in your file menu, and will back up all folders you want at once.

Restoration is done as you would normally do.

Tried it...works great!
