UMAX AstraCam 1800

I wanted an inexpensive digital camera and picked up the UMAX AstraCam 1800. I also grabbed a 32MB Kingston SmartMedia Memory Card to enhance the number of pictures it'll hold (it came with a 4MB card). Unfortunately, it periodically locks up during picture taking and turning the camera off, then back on, serves to efficiently clear the memory of all pictures. I returned the camera for a new one, but it does the same thing. :mad:

Has anybody else had this problem? :confused:

There is a Microsoft joke here somewhere! When it shuts down is it usually on the same picture number? Is it possible that memory cad is bad?

Is the camera capable of using a 32 MB Card ?? Some cameras have a limit on the size of Card you can use !

Yeah, the camera is rated for 4MB, 8MB, 16MB, and 32MB SmartMedia cards. The camera randomly barfs on both the 4MB card that came with the camera and the 32MB card that I bought separately. What a POS... :mad:
