NOt sure where this goes, so if it needs moving, go ahead!!

Anyway, I am trying to make a VCD of a trip to mexico from several mpgs I am using ECDC 5 platinum, when I try to add the file, it tells me the only thing wrong is the bitrate. How can I change the bitrate of an mpg???

Thanks

Any video-editing software would do the job.

Adobe Premiere is one of it. It's kinda slow, but it's a great piece of software.

There are lots of free video-converting utilities on the web. Most of them let you change the video settings.

Download the Free TmpgEnc and use the VCD template to encode your files.
Then Burn them using Nero using the VCD project option.

The VCD bitrate settings are very strict and this is why you need to convert the files.

This is one of the best video-converters! That's what I use. In addition it's extremely fast in compare with the other similar utilities.

I couldn't remember the exact name before.

I actually am trying to use that. However, when ever I try to convert the mpg to be used as a VCD, I get an "Illegal Stream" error.. any suggestions?

Cris, If you will look good we are trying to create a VCD and NOT a DivX CD.

The diferance is that a VCD can be played on a normal DVD while DivX only on computers.

Lycia -
did you use the VCD template settigs ?
On the Botton right corner in TmpgEnc click on "Load" then go to the template directory and select the VCD for the video format you are using (PAL or NTSC)
Make sure to select the VideoCD, not the SuperVCD, or other one.

Thanks Scuba. Yes I did. I have used TmpgENC to convert an AVI to a VCD usable format. My problem is this: I have several MPGs that when I try to add to the "VCD" in Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum, it tells gives me a box called MPG Information. Under File Information there are several small boxes with Titles like Audio Layer, Frame size, etc. I get either a ! which says it's probably ok, and a red X which means not acceptable. So far on all the MPGs only the Video Bitrate is X'ed. I just need to know how to change the bitrate...

Crap, I figured it out!! In TmpgENC you have to set the Video/Audio source, then set the output file!! I was trying to open the mpg through File Open new project!! what a tard!!

Thanks for the help!!
