PASSWORD PROTECTED

I recently purchased a computer from a church sale for my mother.Everything works except after it checks itself to see if everything is working properly it stops me with a dos password prompt.I does'nt even let me know what operating system it is working under. Does anyone know any backdoor passwords for this?

I would contact the church and get the proper password. otherwise, your going to need to crack the case to clear it.

Or give us the details on that machine, in particular the motherboard model and BIOS version, and we can show you how to reset the BIOS password either through jumper settings or through other means.

It's not just a BIOS password protecting the BIOS, it's also a BOOT password. No software program is going to help you if you can't get to a DOS prompt!

So can dolamite2k get into bios or not?

That don't sound like a bios p/w when I think about it, more like someone's batch file askin'.... I know this is very obvious but you have pressed escape , Ctrl-c-x whatever the hell stops stuff in dos...

BTW mac as long as you can see bios(short that jumper!) why can't I load my own bootstrap from either cd or floppy, & then crack it from there..... or am I missing the point?:confused:

I have seen this before, some versions of Bios will allow there to be a bios password, and it'll also allow the option of forcing that password to be necessary upon boot of the computer. You may POSSIBLY be able to flash the bios, or reset the bios to get around the password. Hopefully the church didn't recieve the computer from donations, and they'll have someone who knows what the password may be, because that's the only sure fire bet to get this thing resolved. Here's to hoping you don't have one big paperweight.
