grab the latest detonator driver for xp. that should do it. SOF runs just fine on my xp box with that driver.

try chuckin this one to the NEW games forum ,,as the main forums are concerned with the running of the o/s ,,,not the running of games.
you will probebly get more help there.

Try dropping the refresh rate of your monitor and see if that cures it.(Try default)
Sometimes the default game settings can be too high for the vid card/monitor to handle.
If this allows you to get to the settings page you can then lower it and return your monitor settings to whatever they were before.

this will sound like a dumb question but
is this a legit copy you purchased or a pirated version.
many times the same thing happens with pirated versions.
(note to all: i do not promote pirated games. they are wrong and for cheap people, also its ILLEGAL!!!!)

not a dumb question at all...but non the less not a relevant one because the same cd installs and runs just fine on another computer...so..i don't think this is the problem..

I tried it on my XP machine and it will not even let me install, it just hangs. I don't think it's a vid problem. I am running a GeForce2 MX400 64mb vid card, and just updated to the latest detonator drivers, disabled the antivirus, and changed my display to its lowest refresh rate setting at 800X600 (which is wierd looking on a 21 inch monitor) :D
the darn thing still hangs.
