Low Level??

what exactly is a low level format,because i
have some junk,that i want to get rid of,but
i don't want to reformat my hard drive.do i need to buy special software.How dangerous
is the low level format?

The low level format will erase everything on the drive, only dangerous if you want to keep your data. Your HDD manufacturer should have the software on thier site.
