Thanks for your replies
Is the 4 IDE device limitation due to my motherboard, or is this a General limit
Also, if it is not possible to exceed the 4 IDE Devices, is it possible to remove my 1st CD ROM connection & install the ZIP drive instead, I don`t see this as a problem.....However the ZIP drive 100 does not have any jumper settings between the power & IDE connection, as shown in the manual, should I assume that detection iis automatic ??????
Thanks
Keith

4 IDE devices is a general limit. Removing your CD drive and replacing it with the Zip should work out just fine, but I don't think it will automatically become the slave. Just go ahead and connect it and see if your computer will boot. If it does, then the Zip was already set as slave.

There are 6 pins in between the data cable and the power source. If there are no jumpers on the pins, it is set up as a slave drive. (This is on the older Zip drives).

In response to SteveT.
Yes agreed that 4 IDE devices is the general limit, but in the recent weeks of the release of Ultra-ATA66 controllers this now give the user the use of upto 8 IDE devices, whether or not the user installs an extra controller card or uses one of the new boards that incorporate this feature such as the Abit BP6 or BE6

Thanks for all the responses........It`s great to know you can get help when you need it !!! I found out that my Zip drive was not IOMEGA....that is why no Jumper pins.....So I don`t know how to set it for slave etc....However I know have a REAL Iomega ZIP drive c/w jumper pins.......I think I`ll remove my `small 3gb hard drive & use the 13 gb, I hope it`s big eenough to do all my Video editing (Adobe s/w) and have room for a few Games/Applications, then I can fit my ZIP drive in it`s place. The reply from Darren was interesting...I have a chaintech ^6LTM` motherboard, which I`m about to upgrade the BIOS on. However if there is ANY option; other than SCSCI and other than replacing my motherboard I`d love to have full details.....Any chance Darren
Best Regards
Keith
