XP Backup

When using backup I am able to save the Job to include which files I want but the program will not remember the backup media/file name. For example if I have two backups say one to hard drive and one to CDRW, if i change from one to the other, the file selections are saved but NOT the media/file name. I have used Backup in Win98 for years with not problems but cannot get XP backup to work. Indeed, cannot manually save and select a job. Program will only remember all the details if it is a scheduled backup?! Very odd.
Can anyone help please?
