I seem to be having a problem with my J-Bond PCI500C-Pa motherboard. I first noticed when I tried to put a CD in my drive, nothing shows up in Explorer (neither my CD or my CDR). I went messing around, and I found out through the Add New Hardware option that the secondary IDE controller (dual fifo) isn't working properly.

I then did a flash updgrade to the BIOS and reset the BIOS settings, and still nothing. I noticed that both drives blink during the POST and they show up in the auto detect during startup. This is all very odd as they've both worked for the last two months, I honestly don't know why it decided to crap out now. I haven't done anything to the guts of my PC in that duration.

So, should I take this mobo back and get a real one (possibly TYAN s1598), or would a new IDE cable possibly work? Other then that, I'm out of ideas, so some advice would be appreciated.

First do a virus scan. Then scan your registry for noide. Might also try to boot from a boot disk from what ever operating system you are using and try a fdisk /mbr twice. Or go into safe mode and remove the ide controller. Might also try a different cdrom or place that one as slave on the primary or in another system. Also uncheck DMA if it is set in the cdrom properties. If it is showing on post, but not in windows then chances are the mobo is fine. It is either the cdrom or windows.
