My Antivirus, Command AV, distinguishes between viruses and 'corrupted executable files." That is, when I run an antivirus scan it will list some files as corrupted executables rather than as viruses. Lately I've been getting an entire list of files that have been listed corrupted files. The problem is that these files are unlike any kind of files I've ever seen. They are located inside the Windows/system folder, but are ourside the regular yellow boxes that delineate folders. They are listed as C:\Windows\System\MFC.001, .002,.003 etc. I've never seen any file extensions that are purely numerical.

Nothing appears abnormal so I don't think they are viruses. If they are corrupted executables, I would like to know what program they belong to so I can reinstall it.

Thanks.:( :flame:

They appear to be Visual C++ Extension classes.

Thanks very much. But what is a 'visual C numeric class' and where do go to I reinstall it.

Thanks,

Not sure, just recognized the files......probably better asked in the programming forum.
