WinXP Pro vs. Home

What is the big difference between the Pro and the Home edition of Windows XP... and for that matter between Windows 2000 and XP??

Here (http://www.arstechnica.com/tweak/win2k/xp-versions-1.html) is another article comparting the two and Windows .NET Server. Personally, I would go with XP Pro. But that is just me! :D

Apart from lower purchase price, there is not great incentive to get the Home version, which appears to be mostly a handicapped or stripped Pro version, IMO.

That is true, Home IS a stripped down version of Pro.

Three big differences:

Home cannot join a domain (If you don't know what that is, then don't worry about it.)
Home only supports one processor.
Home does NOT have remote desktop.


Also you cannot specify specific NTFS permissions in the Home version.
