My friend wants to buy a CD-RW, but his pc already this very old one.
Their specifications are:
Pentium MMX 200 Mhz
32 Mb Ram
HD 4 Gb.
Is the matter, does its computer support a burner 32x10x40?

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't. As long as it uses a standard IDE cable, and the OS supports it,.. should be no problem.

Yes, I will run it, but I would recommend you make sure he has around 700-850mb free hard disc space when burning (for a buffer) Or it will take some time to burn a CD, Alternatively buy a secondary hard drive and slave it. The machine should handle up to 8gig drives with no problems.

I presume you're working with Windows 95 or 98. CD burners weren't around when this system was made. However it still should work if you add the accompanying CD software.

PS. Tell your friend he might benefit as well from a RAM boost. Going to 64 or 128 mb of RAM might double his speed and performance.

Agreed, if you post the boards version number, we will be able to tell you what will max out the board, thus what not to go over.

I've installed burners in boxes as slow as a Cyrix 150MHz/32 Mb before. The burnproof bit will prove VERY worthwhile on a slow computer. Putting the RAM up to 64Mb as suggested will help a lot too. Don't expect it to burn at the full 32 speed though, on CD copying or from the hard drive.
