Each time windows boots or I try to install/uninstall a program I get a message saying the feature I'm trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK or enter the path to "ISScript.msi".

What's wrong?

This started since I emptied my C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Temp

I thought it was temporary as it said in the name...

Unless something happened to be keeping a temporary file there that it was using, at the time it was deleted.

hmm... you know what would work, write a backup feature to your program and then use that to restore the files. Or you could go to the recycle bin and restore the files from there.

AFAIK, "ISScript.msi" is an MSI component for InstallShield, which, I'm sure you know, is used for a variety of install packages.

Have you searched for it on your HDD?

Was your XP installed over a network?

Hmm... here's an idea:

Go to the InstallShield Community (http://community.installshield.com/) and post a note about this. Look for a way to identify what is asking for this component.

A quick search on Google reveals that a lot of programs/apps/games/etc use this .MSI file.

No my program doesnt delete that I deleted it myself when I saw this "Temp" folder. I tried to restore from my backup tape but it didn't seem to help, I may not have selected the right date range because I deleted it a few days ago.

Did you check the information that Computer Valet and I posted?

I did ask on that board but didnt get a reply yet...

I tried re-installing windows and that didnt help either, please help me, I noticed it asks for ISScript.msi 3 times each time I try to install something, if I click cancel on all 3 it seems to continue normally.

Now it says I have to put the standard VGA adapter driver before I can install my video card but my video card isnt even listed at all in device mangler, what should i do?

BTW why is this thread sticky?

Thanks

under display adapters, what is listed? Do you have the drivers for your video card? what video card is it? When you refer to it, do you mean the instruction manual for your video card or is this a message that pops up when you do something?

Someone mentioned making a thread sticky - I wondered what actually does when it's stuck... so far it just stays at the top of the list of forums but the forum summary shows the latest post regardless of sticky threads.
