2.88 meg floppy question

hi i didnt know where the right place to put this was so i figuerd, id put it here and if it gets moved ok , ersonally i couldnt find annything so heres the question
i rescently bought 3 brand new 2.88 floppy drives from ebay, they wont format a 1.44 floppy eaven with the dos switch to force it to format it as a 1.44, now it should function like a 1.44 if i tell bios it is a 1.44, drive trouble is i think they are bad and i should contact the person who sold em to me,, yeah and ive tried a few machines they were made in 1997, i have a ibm 350 layin around and have tried them in like 4 pcs no dice
all i get is track 0 bad format terminated, but floppy formats fine in any other drive..
are they bad , or what.,, probably not in the or what catagory... thanxz in advance

If the bios is set to 2.88 mb for floppy then it should format a 1.44 as a 1.44 if not and all cables and connections are correct....send them back...I was never a fan of the 2.88 drives and really if they were any good everyone would have them standard instead of the pitiful 1.44 mb floppies

HEY THANXZ update it took a while but yes they are bad, eaven on this persons websight they descibe them as being able to read 1.44 's so they are bad . so knowing this i emailed the place were i bought them to get them rma d ,, i waited like 3 days nothing so i emailed them again same email plus 1 , waited like 4 more days emailed again i flooded them with click of thier email ady i sent an email to myslf with thier email addy on it and kept copy and pasteing the same message, still no response , yesterday i flipped and was going to be in his neck of the woods some day, i have relations outside of harrisburg pa , im quite a few hours away. but still it was the principle of the mater, i was down right ticked thinking hey this guy just pulled a scam 3 new bad drives?? all three,, who knows he might have gotton a bad batch ,, it happens , so right after i sent the threatining one vendor takes a lil pitty on me or , some one thier was ultra slakin and boss finally got wind,,so vendor states hell ship me out 3 more and refund my money,, if they do ill be shure and post thier url here , i find it out of thier way to be so nice about it..alls i wanted was 3 drives that worked,,..
