Not to make light of the recent rash of people losing their jobs...

But I just heard a strong rumor here that it was decided at yesterday's board meeting that my company is trying to cut costs and they've decided they don't need an in-house network/sys admin anymore. If so, I'm out on my *** as of Friday.

This is the best news ever! I can't wait, I hate this ****ing place with every fiber of my being. I will laugh in the boss's face when he lets me go and proudly tell him that I don't give a ****!

w00t!

I can't stand this place either, but can't say I would welcome such a thing to that degree.......

Must be nice to not need $$...:D

Do they not realize that bringing someone in from outside every time they have a problem isn't exactly cheap in itself??

I hear ya Cobra. This is my last day at my job! Weeeeeee! All our jobs went to Indian contractors. Alas, I cannot complain or otherwise I'd lose my severance. :(:(:(

Anyone have any openings for a programmer(application developer)?

No, I got other jobs lined up...just now I don't have to worry about giving notice or being talked into staying. :)

And as for it not being cheap to bring in an outside service...I don't care, that's their problem, not mine. :D

many years ago, exactly 3 :D
I walked into work with my pals and went into the R&D Linux/WinNt office. Me as the manager and three techs under me. Any ways we get the news that our store is cutting cost and is fireing alot of the techs out in the warehouse. Well that seem ok to us since itt wasnt us but it sucked for them. Well 1 week later the Tech Support Manager had the guts to fire me and my 3 techs. ("Sorry but we dont have the money for the linux department anymore") so for the next 1 week gather all of our stuff and finding cool multiplayer online games to play, we had the biggest LAN party (well not biggest) at work during work :) it was us vs the 23 techs ehhe, the techs wer on the phone and still played, it was great. Then the week was up and I got all my free software and hardware then left for ever. Left the only linux server running the intranet running, left the online Knowledge base open online. And walked out the door to our cars and left forever.

Now I work for the government do more, but dont have to put up with talking with people and I get paid triple :)

You prolly work somewhere like where my old roomie worked. Bitched about stuff all the time and from what I heard it sounded like a tech paradise. He left with a severance package and his 401K and took $17K home. He's happy and not going to work for about 4 or 5 months.

Bastards.

People that are doing well for themselves piss me off!:flame:

I quit work too just last month.
I'm taking some part time electronic technician courses and will seek part time employment elsewhere once I'm fully adjusted into my course schedule.

Had enough of retail store life.
The owner's and coworkers were great people. Treated me good. But the pay was lousy.

Got enough saved up for books, tuition and to cover living expenses for the next 5 months. So I'm in no hurry getting back into the workforce. It's nice to have some extra time to catch up on other delayed projects.

Ummm...the boss just called me into his office. I got a raise. And Monday off. And they're talking about hiring an assistant for me as well.
