OK, I'm working on a relative's 333 MHz Presario and just installed a fresh copy of Office XP. The problem is that every time you open any of the Office apps you keep getting an extremely annoying error message:
"Speech recognition requires a 400 MHz computer with 128 MB of RAM."
That's all welll and good, but speech recognition is not even installed! The message pops up so frequently while using Office that it's rendered it practically unusable. I've tried installing and then uninstalling speech recognition, repairing Office, and finally uninstalling and re-installining it. Notta.
It's always bugged me that whenever something gets goofed up in Office (pick a flavor, doesn't matter) you almost always have to reformat your hard drive to fix it since MS buries it's settings so deep in the registry you'll never find it. It's starting to look like I have the same situation now, but if someone here has run into this before and managed to fix it I'd really like to know. Suggestions on additional things to try are also very welcome.
Thanx...
