Have you tried pressing the f5 key to refresh the view? Or use View Refresh - does that work?

refreshing does not work. tried this with no success. only way that works is a total restart of the system

Hi ganzie,

The root cause here is probably the problem-laden build of Roxio Easy CD Creator that ships with XP.

If you query 'Roxio' in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, you'll end up getting numerous hits ('numerous' being a vast understatement) that prompt you to download a patch (or several patches) from Roxio's web site. This problem is often amplified if you run Nero or any other CD-burning software, as the two often conflict. The way I was able to get around the same problem you are running into was to apply the patch from Roxio (not the one from Dell!) at:

http://www.roxio.com/en/support/roxio_support/software_updates.jhtml

This should resolve the problem
