Hello! I have a question for the house. Can some one tell me how to setup remote assistance in Windows XP when both parties are using Linksys BEFSR41 routers? I thought I would only need to DMZ both systems to make it work, but that was not the case. Any help would be great!
Thanks!

make sure the XP firewalls are off. If they are DMZ'ed then port fowarding dont matter... so that is all I can think of.

I think XP is set by default to use Remote Assistance

I solved the problem by looking though the FAQ at Linksys.com. It seems that even if you DMZ both systems you still will have to foward a series of ports. Does not make much sense to me, but it works. Thanks for all your help!!

If you have it working with port forwarding; you might consider putting your systems back behind DMZ. Sorta defeats the purpose of the firewall don't you think?

Okay, this may be out of my ***, but, because of NAT, you need to port forward the proper TCP/UDP ports on both networks, otherwise it won't work. The DMZ just means there's no firewall rules in place, at least that's my understanding.....basically just all ports open (but they need to be forwarded).
