I have no idea what the G designates other than I get a few extras more than the regular DX...:)

Hopefully I'll be able to get my money's worth out of this Civic as well;)

How much did you pay, and what options?

That is a lot of distance on a car. Congrats on the new car, just feel sorry for you having to break in a new seat and a new a$$ groove. After all that distance, you must have a really good one in the other car.:D

Retail value was $18 600 canadian. Options include air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, etc....

No cruise control or power windows on this model which is fine by me. Also no "fin" either as that increases insurance

actually I'm not the original owner of the camry. When I got it it had about 240 000Km. Great car but couldn't compare with the 2003 civic.

A currency converter shows that as 11,781.60 USD. That is really good. I know someone that bought a Civic, and really got raked through the coals, paid above sticker price. She also didn't get ABS, and slid into someone only months after driving it off of the lot. I really feel sorry for her...

HEHEHE...one of the guys here wrecked his car, bought a new truck after two weeks, and wrecked the truck a week later - $4000 worth of damage, and that was an estimate by a friend of his.

Congratulations!

Don't forget to add all the stickers you can find on the sides of your car - they do make it go faster! :D

Cool Christmas present.

Once wrote off a landrover on the fourth day I had it, wasn't exactly new though.

Shredded a tyre towing a trailer over a hill, going a bit quick. Ended up sat on the roof with the trailer on top.

To this day I've never quite worked out how it happened:rolleyes:

good ! :) it's easier to clean the trunk lid that way,

and it's silly to have those fins on cars anyway, well,uh,erh,of course unless these guys are hitting 200mph! LOL

expect the same or better life out of your new honda, as mine 88 Civic wagon 365000 KM is still going strong, and imports have a tendancy to get better every year. (unlike domestic which only get worse with each year of production.)

It cost money to keep any older car on the road, how much has your ’88 civic needed in the past 5 years? Additionally, if you are OK with driving a car for that long, more power to you, but most people out there want to drive something newer, less than 4 years old. Extreme longevity is not a selling item, because the car will have transferred owners several times before it reaches that point.

As for domestics not cutting the mustard, what domestic car does Canada have?

US domestics on the other hand have long lives too. It may cost a little more to keep them going, but I have seen many Chevy’s and early ‘80’s Old’s and Cadillac’s well in excess of the 200,000 mile marker on original engines and trannies. Many Fords are running the doors off, and some exceed the 300,000-mile mark frequently. It boils down to proper preventative maintenance; you should get a lot of life out of a car if you take care of it. But, don’t expect the ride to be as comfortable as the newer cars going by you…

...and I'm sure you'd need all that downforce on the rear of a front drive car, anyway:rolleyes:

Actually, at high speeds it doesn't matter whether it is a front or rear wheel drive in the manor you imply. The force from a spoiler is meant to prevents the car from lifting off of the road, which can be helpful with front wheel drives because they typically have a very light rear end. Now grant it, most wings and spoilers are out there for looks anyway, and almost all of them are useless at speeds below 65mph. But they do serve a purpose above 100mph, I assure you that.

I sold a 1979 Datsun 210 with 325,000 miles on it about 9 years back and saw it still on the road a year ago. i recognized the Dale Earnhardt bumper sticker still on it.

[i]As for domestics not cutting the mustard, what domestic car does Canada have?[/B] Plenty, there is a Honda plant in Aliston Ontario that makes the Acura 1.7 EL, I believe this car is not sold in the US. It was built for Canadians who wanted a lower end Acura that could handle Canadian winters. Every Chev Impala and Monte Carlo is made in Oshawa ON. Every Ford Windstar is made in Oakville ON. And there are more examples.

But really, the components of any car are manufactured from all over the world. Therefore I believe the current definition of import/domestic is irrelevant.

Hmmm, domestic car manufacturers, someone tried to tell me the other day the UK didn't have any...
