I'm not sure whether this goes here or Win9x group. I guess it fits either way.
I have a client with a Win98 box which has a printer connected directly to the parallel port. She also uses a printer which is shared by a win2k box in the other room.
Every time she prints something to the network printer, she has to reboot before she can print to the local printer.
The local printer has been replaced and the problem persists.
No one else has to print to that printer, so I'm not sure what would happen.
Has anyone else ever run into this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Check the settings for the networked printer.... sounds like lpt1 is being captured?

it's not surprising, win98 needs a reboot and a kick in the teeth before it will do most anything.

Can you please supply more details on the specific network setup.

1. What protocols are you using for networking

2. have all the windows updates been run on the win98 and 2k box

3. What is the share name on the 2k printer - 9x has a max limit of 14 characters for the share name - best to keep it short and simple.

4. What printers and drivers are bieng used

5. What is the port settings on the network printer?

6. How much RAM is in the 98 box

7. What are the security settings on the 2k box

Any other information you can supply would help quite a bit.
