Lost PS/2 Keyboard

Hi All,

Customer lost PS/2 keyboard conection on motherboard. Told cust that board was lost. Question is.....is there a solution such as USB for this? And does it solve the BIOS situation, ie: hit delete to enter BIOS??

If USB is currently enabled you should be able to plug in a USB keyboard without an issuue

The problem with that solution is that it's merely a workaround and doesn't really address the issue which is a faulty motherboard.

So I assume that replacing the motherboard is not an option the customer wants to consider?

There is one other thing you can try. When a PS/2 port disappears like that, more often than not it's a blown surface mount fuse. You can find it in close proximity to the PS/2 ports and the designator is usually something like F1 or F2. Find it and ohm it out. If it's open you can replace it with either another fuse or even a straight piece of wire.

Check a fuses first, as mrwilhelm already suggested...
I replaced them many times and usually sucsessfully... ;)
