Help. Just built my first Athlon based system which includes the Asustec K7M Athlon M/Board with on-board sound chip.
The trouble is the bloody thing talks to itself through the speakers and through the PC speaker.
Never come across this before. Any clever dick know how to switch these noises off through jumper/bios?
The noises seem to be in sync with something that is being monitored.
Many thanks.

I would disconnect and reseat all the power connections, check the grounding of the MB to the case (do you have enough metal to metal connections?) and make sure all screws are tight.

Is your power supply 300watt or higher? Is it grounded to the case and all screws tight?

If after checking all connections the problem still exists, start disconnecting one item at a time to try and find the offending device.

Hope this helps.

Thank you. After fiddling with the bios we found the cure which was a monitoring setting which had not been disabled as there was no peripheral attached.
PS The company that we bought the board off also mentioned tweaking the temperature monitor up by 10% so that the alarm was not intermittently coming on. Hope that helps others too. Sceat UK
