Downloads for your Toshiba Satellite. (http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modItemList.jsp?ProductMenu_0=Portables&ProductMenu_1=Satellite&ProductMenu_2=1073769665&BV_SessionID=@@@@1080175381.1043962739@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccdadchgdgkeegcgfkceghdgngdgli.0&moid=1073769665&smoid=true&ct=DL&ListType=Model&x=21&y=10)
Click on Detailed Specs. Looks like it is upgradable to 40MB RAM.
Also, a BIOS Flash is available.
Also, at the bottom of that link is your User's Guide.

thanks jaxson , 1: customer will not pay for mem upgrade unless it is "dirt cheap" 2: cannot use most of those utils , coz they are self extractors - on to floppys , NO floppy here ,,,"flying without a safety net" ,,,,,,have already upped it from 95 (a) to 95 (c) ????? (was there one?) , anyway deleted win.com , and gritted my teath !!!!!!
Noo Noo , thanks for the link , all i got wasdead leads ,,,,so i did a hunt (old modem disks) for netscape ,,,,found 4.7 ,,and loaded.
first 3 webpages (inc freeserve -home) say "this browser no longer supported" with links for , billy boy + netscape .
sounds good???? netscape 7 (latest upgrade) req: 64 meg ,,,that is FOUR times the req of ie 5.5.
strike 3 ,,,,,back to the start again.
bloody error regarding java ,,,,,
located 2 copies of ie4 ,,,,one on a PC PLUS cd issue 132 (oct 1997) ,,,,showing my "bloody" age here (wow there are some flippin quick proggys on this!!!) and one on a "ministry of sound" CD (dont ask how i got that ---there,s no bloody "dylan" on that !!!) ,,,
anyway niether will load , they seem to want to d/load files from billy boy ,,,,,and keep gettin told to "bog off"

The problem is Freddy, that webpages have been updated and ie 3 and 4 will not understand the commands. So even if you do get 4 on there, (btw I have a copy) the likelihood is that you will still get the page errors.

I just tried loading Windows 95 on a system that had 16mb of RAM. No Dice!. I couldn't get any graphics to show up in anything more that 16 colors. Even 256 was impossible.
It came with IE 3.2 and was upgradeble to IE 4.0 but I could barely get it to do anything with 16. It just plain took forever! I don't understand how you you are expected to manage with 8.
There are things called "Minimum Requirements" Perhaps you should let you customer know what they are. ....
Some people are literally impossible to satisfy. If you can't do it you can't do it. Its jusssst Thattt Simple....
Tell him to bog off.

ironicly , the colours are 256 , and (apart from the 3/4 gig h/drive) ,,,,it does run supplrisingly ok.
someone said that the ram was upgradable to 40m (sorry can,t remember who) ,,but i checked with kingstons website , (checking for compatability from my bits box) and they say Mfg only ,,,,
never mind

Your detailed specs referenced above lists your memory as EDO DRAM, 60ns, 66MHZ.
Check out http://www.pricewatch.com/
Click on 32MB,EDO, 60ns...looks like it goes for about $6...hard to beat that. That, combined with your 8MB should max you out at 40MB.
EDIT: I found your model 200 listed under Memory/Notebook...Click on All in Category...click on $49. Buy it direct from Toshiba for $49.75...this includes shipping costs.

as i,m in the uk (note locale) pricewatch.com is a bit siddly squat to me , looking at tht site did,nt help , however i wasable to retrieve a tosh part no to check into.
most sites ie : http://shop.store.yahoo.com/laptopupgrade/por6162.html are simmply listing it (all the majors are) as "discontinued" , any links to a UK site that still keeps this prod will be appresiated.

Give crucial a call (free) (http://www.crucial.com/uk/company/contacts.asp) They have listings for the 300 cds, but not the 200....
So far they have come up trumps for me EVERY time.
