Hi, I'm having a difficulty burning an audio cd. The songs keep skipping at the end, and the counter is jumping back between 1 and 0.
This happened when I uninstalled the Adaptec Easy CD Creator, the one that came with my computer when purchase.
Now I am using Nero 5.5.9.10 and can't burn an audio cd right. I try to play it in my home cd player and my car's cd player. Both failed to play the tracks right, it jumps and repeat the song until you hold down the forward button, just like I mention above.
BUT, I can burn a data cd without a single problem, same cd brand(AudioBrand),same HP cd-rw drive. Hmmmm. What the hell?
What can cause the problem? My bro wants to burn an audio cd bad, he wants me to fix right now or else he's going to put that recovery disks. Ouch! I hate recovery disk. It will erase all my tweaked settings.
Help me out guys. Thanks a lot.

How are you copying, on the fly or to hard disk first?
If it's on the fly then I suggest you copy to hard disk first then back to the cdrw. Sounds like you are getting data errors on the read.

Also, are you sure that the old software is gone? There is usually a c.d. re-writer package that comes with it for packet writing, and if you leave that in there it could bollux up the write...

You could try either enabling or disabling audio resync on the burner or a differnt brand of cd-r

NooNoo,
I am not copying a cd, I want to burn songs that I downloaded from the internet. They play fine on the computer but when I burned it into cd rom as audio cd, it's not working anymore, even when I put in the computer cd drive, it would nearly freeze the computer.
I did try my school burner and it did fine. No problem with audio. Now my cd-rw drive can only burn data cd. :(

Sounds like either your cdrw is dying or perhaps you picked up something from downloading.
Go buy the music you want, you can be sure its clean then.

Try setting the burn speed a little slower. If the burn ends up being good then you know it's time to buy a new CD-RW. I'd recommend Lite-ons or LGs. They are very affordable and decent burners.

A couple of thoughts here.....
Are you using Windows XP? There are numerous issues with uninstalling Easy CD Creator from XP (XP's internal CD writing capability is based around the Easy CD Creator code).
Try re-installing Easy CD Creator! Then go to the Roxio Site and download & run the latest patch(es). The site is at:

What speed are you burning at? My experience has been that burning audio CD's any faster than 8 x speed can often lead to the skipping / repeating you describe. I don't burn audio that often but when I do I use 4 x speed.
