I’m a new member with a new problem. I have a user that is having problems with MS Outlook “Office 2000” and I was wondering if anyone could help me. The problem that I’m having is within the personal folder. The use setup a folder named “Ireland” and she cannot find any of her emails that was pointed to the folder. I have done all of the following:
· I’ve checked her *.PST file
· Checked to see if the folder was delete
· Checked to see if folder was moved to another personal
folder
· Reconfigured her email on another PC using her *.PST file
I’ve done all of the above and I still cannot seem to fix the problem. Can anyone help me?

Try running the inbox repair tool on the pst. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B272227
Is it possible she deleted the folder or that the contents were archived? The archive file is usually archive.pst.

Thanks, I will try that! As far as your question goes, she backed up all of her information onto the server. I will keep you in the loop on how thing turn out.

Cool. If it was on the server (and not in a pst) you can get it back if the Exchange information store was backed up.

You may also want to verify that there are no filters in use... if you have a filter enabled, you may have email that you cannot see. Check that, but I bet the repair tool will resolve your issue-

another thing to try is to go to the root of the outlook today and do a "search" for ireland, you may find some results there. i have misplaced mail into my "outlook today" folder, just to find them gione, doing a search on the whole "outlook today" entity found me the missing mail.

I think what Packrat is alluding to is that if your PST file approaches 2 Gig, you run the risk of corruption, and losing access to email. There are some utilities (I think Microsoft has one) that will allow you to reduce the size of your pst to try to recover the pst, but basically deletes email from the file. Commercial versions work better but have a cost...

as snowflowerzz mentioned, I would first check the filters. Had that happen to a user where only the unread email showed. Once they read it, it disappeared. Under "Organize" and "Views" make sure "Messages" is selected.

OK here is my latest up on the Outlook problem. First, I checked to make sure that the user did not have any filters active on her Outlook and proceeded with running the repair program but I had no luck. After running the program I received the following error and done the following:
·The OUTLLIB.DLL file is linked to missing export
MS09.DLL:939
·Office can’t start Microsoft “Find Fast” (Error Occurred)
·Application will not access Outlook.exe
·I’ve Checked the size on her mail box (32.2MB)
·I’ve Checked archive files
(Note)… This is the path at I used.
C:\Program files\Microsoft Office\Office\Outlook.exe
I place her “PST” file on another computer so that she could continue to use her system while I look into her problem. After all of the above I reinstalled the application and found that it would no longer come up. It was as if the application had been disrupted and would only give the massage of: (OUTLLIB.DLL file is linked to missing export MS09.DLL:939) and is now giving me the massage of “Install Microsoft Outlook SR-1 DISK” but I know of no such disk or have no suck disk . I’ve spent over 7hrs loading, unloading and repairing the program (Over 4 - 6 time I know). It is like I’ve jumped out on one hole and into another. The young woman has already made a new folder and I’m afraid that all of her information from her project is just lost. She was OK with it but I just had liked to have fixed her problems just so that I could have learned from it. I’m just one of those people who just would like to know! Anyway, I’ve failed my mission for today but I WILL win the war. THANKS A MILLION GUYS FOR YOUR EXPERT ADVICE I LEARNED SO MUCH JUST BY HAVING THIS ONE PROBLEM. YOU ALL ARE THE GREATEST!!!
PS. I still will be needing you alls help on a home project that I’m putting together with a 2500 Cisco router and DSL connection.

To be quite frank, usually when a person is OK with it like that, it means that they deleted it, feel bad for putting you through the technical misunderstanding, but they just cant seem to get the nerve to tell you that it was their fault entirely.
Don't look for something in a place where you’re never going to find it I always say. You did your best; now you should probably just rebuild her PC, get it on her desk, and subtly get her to admit she deleted the emails, and your problem is solved.

Based on what you just said, I'd try opening that PST file on another machine before you completely give up hope.

He already did that. Remember he moved her to a different PC...
