I have an older GenuineIntel MMx with 47mb of ram free.I am using a standard display adapter (VGA).Moniter is a Dell that I know functions in the 256 mode.
I am trying to load Diablo ll,single player.I have already upgraded my ram from 32 to 48(32 mb required). What do I need to have my computer function in the 256 mode?
I hope this turns out to be a simple stupid question.
If the computer can't be upgraded can Diablo be made to function in the 16 color mode?
Please reply to dftalkington@hotmail.com
Thank you for your time

Sounds as though you need a video card driver.

You'll need to tell us what video card it is so we can try to help you find the correct driver.

Thanks for your prompt response. This is my bud's computer and when he brought it to me in a few min I suspected a video card driver and pulled the cover to check and found that the video port connected by ribbon cable to the motherboard. This is where my inexperience becomes a problem. Can the driver on the motherboard be upgraded or changed or do I need him to purchase a video card?

You need to keep the replies in the same thread to prevent confusion.

There should be drivers available, but again we need the video card make/model and now the motherboard.

Says it's an Asus with SiS5598 Video.

Try here:http://www.computersdrivers.com/index.php?cat_ref=49&pag=11

Hope it works.

make sure also that your monitor is capable of 800x600 as the menu for DII is at this resolution. once in game, 640x480 will work fine (had an older monitor with this problem at one point)
