Have an odd request.

I have a local unused cable modem connection that I am not using and four phone lines with rollover activated. I have an 800 number associated with the first phone line. The phone lines are connected to a 4/8 port modem on our RAS server. There is no one using the server currently, so I thought I might be able to provide dialup internet access for some of our company to use when away from the office. I thought I could use our RAS server to connect to the internet through the existing cable modem. I am having problems finding information as to what other equipment, if any, I need such as routers, firewalls, proxy sever, gateways, etc.. Can you suggest what I need, a place to look, or a book to purchase?

Thanks in advance........

I'd add a cheap switch/broadband router to the network and plug the cable modem into that. As long as the RAS server has the routers IP as your gateway, traffic will flow. Also, if you want to speed things up you could purchase some terminal services licenses and logon to TS remotely. This would keep internet traffic isolated to the faster network and only send mouse clicks and screen updates over the slower phone line.

Opps! I'm running NT4, but I'm thinking of upgrading to Win2000 Server as I have an extra copy.
Thanks for the information and help. I really appreciate everything..... Take care & be safe :D
