I have two problems on a PC that are probably related.
yperlinking from a message doent work correctly. The browser has a task bar entry, but window doesnt open. Click IE in the task bar, and you get the IE toolbar at the top of the screen with OE in the window. Click stop, then refresh and heypresto, it works.
The other problem is with Windows Update. It finds all the updates, and shows the licence to be agreed to, but then hangs at 0% . PC still functioning OK other than that. It also wont get Norton live updates - but im working on that one.

I have run IE repair, and I know the connection is fine. IE 6.0, Win 98SE, Duron 1.3, 256Mb. NAV is now uninstalled. PC has been scanned from a second machine and is virus free. 47 spyware infections were removed by adaware.

On the update problem, I often find there is one update that will not load, which prevents all the others as well. Pick one update and remove the others, see if that works.

How did you get to IE 6.0? Did you update from a previous version? If so, you might need to revert to the old version and start all over again. This has happened to me a couple of times.

Go to Control Panel...Add/Remove Programs...Select MS IE 6.0. Select "Restore the Previous Windows Configuration."

When you finally get back to installing IE 6.0, make sure you highlight or select Outlook Express in the Addon Components. If you don't, it might not upgrade your OE...it gets left out of the default upgrade.
