I have an older packard bell min-tower computer the mainboard died, I brought a PC chips 810LR MB, everything connected ok, however the old case did not have an on/off switch like the newer cases. Problem is I can't get the power supply or the mb to powerup. Is there a power switch for the newer MB? Any help would be appeciated. Thanks

There is a big difference between the ATX and the AT power supplies...

the Pc chips board is ATX - is the old psu AT ?

Usually the green and white twisted pair of cables from the front on/off switch goes to the pins labelled pwr...

Since he uses the phrase 'everything connected ok' then I don't think its the wrong 'kind' of PSU ... but he could be suffering from propriety pin outs so it still is the wrong 'kind' of PSU :D

Is that confusing enough :D

Packard Bell PSU's often have their own power pin outs different from the standard ones, try a standard PSU to test the board....;)

well in all honesty, do you really care about the case? i'd say get a new case. but if your really stuck on the idea of using this case, you will find a block of no more that 6 cables in the front of the PB case, 2 for HDD LEF, 2 for PWon, 2 for PWRLED/Sleep LED probably, yellow, brown, blue, green, orange and white. let me know if so I think I still have the pin outs for it somewhere, also what model Packard Bell was it?
