Monitor cable part (bent pins)

Hi,
Just got a :eek:ViewSonic:eek: (my first one, i'm moving up in the world) from work that is “bad” and after looking at it, it seems the only bad part is the male pins of wire that hooks to the video card. One pin is badly bent . Now I’m sure this wire is replicable, anyone know where I might find this part?

It’s a 15 inch Optiquest Z50.

Any recommendations would greatly help and I am pretty good with a soldering iron if I have to solder a new one on.

before cutting all willy nilly, have you tried to unbend the pin w/ needles, tweeers....

try takeing the molding off, there are lots of loose wires theat you can help you push up, and out...

Use a pair of pliers to stretch that pin. When it is stretched gently insert it into the connector. You don't want to cut the wires and re-solder them, trust me :)
But if it comes to that look at any electronic components supplier, you should be able to find one. In US I use Newark and Digi-Key for my needs... Radio Shack might have one too...

I used to see a ton of these in my days as a tech. My best tool to fix it? A hog injection needle. They come in different gauges but you can find sizes that fit snugly around the pin and allow you to reshape it very easily. I usually clipped the point off so it had a nice flat edge. The stem is made ridgid to punch through leather giving it the strength you need to work. Most vet supply stores carry them.

Otherwise I recommend disecting the housing very carefully with a razor or dremel tool and phtographing/mapping connections and their colors for reference.

Man, this pin was really badly bent and I thought there was no way to get it straight, I used a razor blade and go tit straight. I'm using it right now!!! This is kinda dumb but i didnt even realize it is a CTR Flatscreen. YEAH BABAY!!!!

The dot pitch on that model should be .24 horizontal, and .28 diagonal. There is a pdf ref guide here (http://www.viewsonic.com/pdf/z50.pdf)

Yes, it's called Internet Explorer, but you also need your EYE and the LABEL that should be attached to it... then you go to the manufacturer's website and....:flame:
