I pulled my WD HD 4.3G from my P5 200 and put it in my newly built BH6 w/ 450mhz Celeron, Win98. I had DMA checked with the old system, but I tried it with new one and could only boot into safe mode. Didn't know how to undo this so I had to reformat and reinstall everything. I'm kinda leary of checking DMA again, but I want the extra performance. What am I doing wrong, and if I can only get to safe mode how do get out and restore the drive without reformatting?

don't worry about the DMA box as it doesn't give much in performance boost ( you wouldn't notice the difference anyway ).

If you are overclocking, then I wouldn't use DMA anyway as you can actually kill your HDD by overclocking with DMA enabled. All of the MOST SUCCESSFUL Overclockers actually run their HDD's at Mode3.
