USB to DB9 driver

Hi guys,

I hope someone can help me, I've searched google for hours and come up with nothing.

I've not got any serial ports on my computer (Sony Vaio) so I bought a USB to DB9 converter.

It came with drivers for 95/98/2000/me but not XP.

I can't find any drivers for XP. The thing isn't branded at all, theres no reference in the readme files as to who manufactured it, but I would think its pretty standard.

Does anybody know of any drivers available for this.

The 2000 drivers might be sufficient if they are well written.

Are there any markings on the device at all? FCC number?

Hi,

I've tried 2000 drivers but no luck.

The only symbol on the device is like an upsidedown heart with a dot in the middle.
I'm sure I've seen it before but I can't remeber where.

Please don't post twice, it just serves to confuse... especially as you have given no further information.

You must have bought it from somewhere... are they online, got a picture of it? What about the box it came in? What's printed on the driver cd you got with it?

From what I have seen xp should drive this natively... are you up to date with service pack 1?

I have a Dell Inspiron 2650 also with no serial ports. I also have a USB to DB9 converter for my HP C200 Digital Camera and an old Jornada.

If I plug it in alone, it asks for a driver. I don't have one for XP either.......

But if I plug it in with one of the devices attached, it uses the device driver.

My converter is an I/O Gear ATEN.

sorry about the double poxsting I thought I might have posted to the wrong section.

Anyway I have tried the drivers you have posted but no luck.

It just says no information about your device can be found or whatever that standard message is.

I have looked through the images and have found the closest one which is http://www.bb-elec.com/assets/product_images/featured/muc232a.jpg

I can't find any reference to the manufacturer.

I have all the latest windows patches updates etc. I too thought it would be native as everything else I connected has been and no problems. I'm not sure why its having such a hard time.

On the packaging it just states the installation instructions and system requirments.

No manufacture details a serial number and some kind of reference code of A86AN

The disk has no details on it other than the various drivers on the disk USB links cable, MMC reader, USB to IEEE1284 and USB to RS232

And non of the disk drivers work.

How did you attempt to install the drivers.

You have merely said it doesn't work, please explain what you have tried so far. Does windows detect it when you plug it in?

On the page that Noo supplied, here's a Quote:
Device drivers for Windows 98/SE/ME and 2000 are provided on CD-ROM disc included in the package. Use Windows 2000 drivers to install on XP machines. Assuming this is the same adapter try downloading and using the drivers if they are updated.
