I have a Geforce 3 TI-200 by MSI. Asus A7V333-X MB, 2.4G AMD Athlon, 1 Gig Ram, Win XP. All drivers/bios/patches/etc... are the latest.

I just bought Asheron's Call 2 and Shadowbane. In both games I noticed that the video looks like very poor quality video film. You know with all the flecks and stuff on the film? Like watching a 1960's movie. I don't know why. None of my other games do it. I play Half-Life, RCT, RCT2, Zoo Tycoon, NOLF, EQ, AC1, Etc...

Anybody have any ideas what could be causing these flecks in the video? How the game is designed?

Thanks,
Eric

This is likely due to a componant that is overheating, usually memory, either on the main board or the video memory

But why would it only overheat on certain games? I have a fan slot fan back there that sits right next to the video card that pulls the hot air away and out the back. Could be my mainboard memory, but the air flow inside my case should be fine, I use all rounded cables. I have a side case fan and a back case fan and a Volcano 9 fan on my CPU. Perhaps I will look into another back panel case fan.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Eric

The problems you're having are called artifacts.

I figured it out. I forgot that I overclocked my video card. Soon as I dropped the clock rate to default everything cleaned up.
