Images not loading on web pages

I have a WinXP box with SPK1 and IE6. When you are surfing the net some pages will load all the images and some won't. You get a empty box with sometimes a red x in the upper left hand corner and sometimes and small block in the same corner. Sometimes these are links to animations the don't show. We have downloaded the latest Java and that seemed to help some but we still get a fair amount of this and are womdering if anyone has an idea of what is causing this and any solution.

In IE6 go to "Tools", then "Internet Options", then click on the "Advanced" tab. Under "Multimedia" make sure all the appropriate boxes are checked (especially "Show Pictures" and "Play Videos in Web Page").
