I have two physical HDD`s, I`m running XP Pro from my first drive. My second HDD is used only for storage and backup.
I would like to install Win98 on a bootable partition on my second HDD. I have Partition Magic 7.0.
Is this possible ?
Does Win98 have to be installed before XP Pro ?

it doesn't have to be, but Ideally you'd like it to be installed before XP to make the dual booting experience easier.

If I were you. I'd install 98 then do an install in place -- or repair install of windows XP and that should make everything kosher without having to backup data reformat and reinstall OS and all apps.

No..if you have partition magic, it includes boot magic as well..

you can do it with partition magic.. but i like KATO's idea better.. it is a safer route..

Have a look here (http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_repair_9x.htm) no third party apps required.

cool link.. I was stoked and going to try it until I saw it only works if you installed XP under fat16 or fat32. . . . . :( :(

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

I found this ADVICE HERE (http://www.winxpfix.com/page5.htm#howwin982000) all of which has made me decide to leave things as they are.

A not too techie., confused ;)

If you try to install Mistress 1.1 before uninstalling Wife 1.0, Wife 1.0 will delete MS Money files before executing a self-uninstallation .

Then Mistress 1.1 will refuse to install, claiming insufficient system resources.

I'll qualify this & say 'from memory'....

Physically unplug the xp disk ...

Install 98 on your 'other' hd in its first partition .

Plug everything back in.

Use bios to choose which source you boot from ...

Inelegant but effective & no extra software....

Not in a position to test it now, but I think that'll do it....

As everyone says really you want 98 there first ....
