256 ddr ram
liteon cd writer
at the moment using the onboard sound but have a creative sb live platinum aswell
so far ive updated all my drivers , formatted and reinstalled , checked all cableing ,ect - noticed i could turn off the auto restart and i now see this error message
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Sounds like either a corrupted page file or a bad memory chip.
Try the fix for the page file first:
01. Right-click My Computer and press Properties
02. Select the Advanced tab.
03. Press the Settings button under Performance.
04. Select the Advanced tab.
05. Press the Change button under Virtual memory.
06. Select No paging file and press the Set button. Press Yes if prompted.
07. Press OK, OK, and OK.
08. Shutdown and restart your computer.
09. Right-click My Computer and press Properties.
10. Select the Advanced tab.
11. Press the Settings button under Performance.
12. Select the Advanced tab.
13. Press the Change button under Virtual memory.
14. Select System Managed size and press the Set button. Press Yes if prompted.
15. Press OK, OK, and OK.
16. Shutdown and restart your computer.
other possibilities are incorrect pci loading and driver incompatibility, but the page file is easy to check.
do you still have both the creative and the onboard sound in the computer? is one deactivated?

Total shot in the dark, but I once built a system that reported random IRQL BSODs which turned out to be overheating.
Another thought: Since the error seems to be associated with the USB*.sys file, try disabling the on-board USB to see if the problem recurs?

Tracking that one is a tad harder...
What exactly where you doing at the time? Where you using a program? Was the antivirus doing a system scan? Did you plug in a usb device?
Does the bsod mention a system file? something.sys ?

give you a run down, the only thing i have usb wise connected to my pc is my broadband modem .
went to play some music in windows media player
(which had been fine all night) then bluescreen ,computer not happy .
i wrote the error message exactly as it was shown on screen . looked for .sys extensions to see if anything else was obvious . let me just check with you see if i installed the usb patch correctly, i extracted it to c:\WINDOWS so it can fit in with rest of the system files . should i do something else???? , is it me being stoopid . also reapeated the same help guide on the above post regarding going into my computer and going into page file ect ....
the thing that doesnt seem to matter is what im doing when my pc decides to restart BUT its seems to be more frequent when im either on the net or using media player . downloade th sp1 for ie 6 to see if that helps , again no joy
DOH!!!!

What usb modem? what driver version are you using? Some are very unstable in the first release of drivers...
What version media player?

Its a kernal file for windows... part of your sound system... what sound card do you have?
Sounds like it is time to check the ram goldmem (http://www.goldmemory.cz)
and
Docmem (www.simmtester.com)
download both, create the boot diskettes, run the memory checks, yes do it twice!

using onboard sound at the moment . usually use a sb live platinum though, just havnt got round to installing it .
tried to install the new drivers for the modem ,but evry time i do i cant establish a connection , had to reinstall the old drivers to post this message , going have another go though in a minute .
cant test my ram because i aint got a floppy drive fitted , ive never used one so didnt bother this time round when building this pc . can i create boot disks to cd rom and set my bios to boot from cdrom instead though ?????????

Possibly, never tried myself...
If you can create a bootable cd that does the false a drive bit, I would imagine it would work.
belf

tried it and the program itself will not asllow me to create a boot disk on cd .
the patch usbuhci.sys patch has not seemed to work , also if i download the update on the sagem website , it stops me establishing a connection to the net . ?????
oh well gonna give up for the day now i think and have a well deserved beer . :D

think i may have found the problem , escaped me last time i checked my irq's , but had my sound drivers and my usb drivers both working on irq 5 , ive now uninstalled my sound , and so far so good , only problem is i now have no sound . if i reinput my drivers for my sound can i change the irq as it works with ???? think this could be the problem cause as i said in earlier post -problem seems to be when using windows media and the internet.
would appriciate if anyone knows how to change the irq though.
