can i reinstall win xp to restore original settings
with out having to reactive?
we used to be able to reinstall 98se and it would clean up the reg some what.

i seem to be having extreme delays in win xp whaen i click on an icon on my desktop. i feel like i'm back on an old p75....
i'm running an intel 845bg Mobo with 512 DDR memory w/ a
2.0 mhz processor

any ideas?

Have you got installed hotfix 811493?

Have you run Spybot (http://security.kolla.de/index.php?lang=en&page=download) or Adaware? (http://www.lavasoft.de)

Have you tried a system restore?

Yes activation is required (http://is-it-true.org/nt/xp/atips/atips13.shtml) but it is not really a problem. If you read the link you will see you can backup your activation.

thanks noo noo,
i've already got the hotfix installed,
loaded spyware and found alot there. boots a lot faster now,
still sluggish on opening apps though.

my daughter is on a separate destop and sometimes that girl will load stuff that drives me insane...i am going to try this for a while...and when she goes to college she gets a laptop and i dump here stuff.

duh, ya know i get smarter as i get older.....
i just removed hotfix q811493...lots better
all the way around..:p ...gee if i would only take the
time to read...at least si got a chance to say hi...
