Hi All
Since I upgraded to XP the scanner on the hp LJ1100A does not work.
The drivers HP give for XP only upgrade the printer but the scanner does not work.
One person in a HP office said that there is a CD rom with code
C4224-61105 which apparantly can solve the problem but you have to find it because for some strange reason it is not availabe for download - crazy
Anybody have any further information pls on this issue or know of this CD ROm ??
Thanks in advance

have you tried the windows 2000 scanner driver? (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/CoreRedirect.jsp?targetPage=ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software1/lj1125/lj-3999-1/lj1125en.exe) (right click, save as)

You might want to check out HP's Microsoft(R) Windows XP Installation Instructions. (http://www.hp.com/cposupport/printers/support_doc/bpl11038.html) About halfway down the page, it says: NOTE: For the 1100 and 1100A, version 1.00.5.029 of the current Windows 2000 driver or later is required to operate properly in the Microsoft® Windows XP environment. This driver is not certified for use within the Windows XP environment.
Also, read up on HP LaserJet 1100 Product Series - Uninstalling the Software (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=bpl05815&locale=en_US&taskId=115&prodSeriesId=235424&prodTypeId=18972) so that you can start off fresh.
Hope this helps out. Let us know how it ends up...Good Luck!

I was also able to find this in one of HP's Forums. (http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xfae9ed6464a6d611abdb0090277a778c,00.html)
Towards the bottom of the page, one guy found a solution:
I had success with this procedure on a clean installation of Windows XP Pro and a LaserJet 1100A. I can't vouch for its effectiveness with XP Home or an upgrade to either version or an 1100Ase.
1. Let Windows XP install its native driver for the LaserJet 1100.
2. Install the software from the CD that came with the printer and reboot.
3. Install the Windows 2000 update driver (lj188en.exe). You will receive a message that the driver is not compatible with XP. Just click OK, let the installation finish, and reboot.
4. Install the Windows XP communications update (lj1100cuwinnt42kxp-en.exe) and reboot.
At this point, I had full scanner functionality, including Insert from Scanner in WinFax Pro.
EDIT: Also, make sure your LPT port (parallel) is set to ECP in your BIOS.
