I backup my files to CDRW on a regular basis. I noticed one folder named "error" that I cannot delete. It has a subfolder with the same name and a file inside with an extension that XP does not recognize. I can delete the file but must first view its properties and uncheck the "read only" box. I also uncheck these boxes on both folders but when I try to delete I get the message, ""Cannot remove folder error: The directory is not empty". If I then go back to properties, the read only box is checked again in both folders and the file has returned. I can choose to "move" the folder but get the same results. I have ran a virus scan which shows no viruses.

How can I get rid of this pesky file? I guess the simple solution would be to use a new rewritable disc but I would like to get rid of the file as I am puzzled by its tenacity.

Thanks!

Copy the contents of the cdrw except for the folders you do not want, to your hard drive. Format or erase the cdrw, copy back the folders from the hard drive.
