Nebraska Lawmaker Proposes War With Iowa
By The Associated Press
LINCOLN, Neb. - A Nebraska lawmaker is so fed up with constituents crossing the state border to gamble that she proposed going to war with neighboring Iowa.
"I've been cautioned that the members of the Iowa Legislature might not take it kindly,' said Sen. Pam Brown of Omaha.
Brown's proposed amendment read: "The sovereign state of Nebraska declares a state of hostility with the sovereign state of Iowa until such a time as the state of Iowa ceases the unjust and relentless appropriation of the resources of the citizens of Nebraska."
Brown offered the amendment to a proposed constitutional amendment that would ask votes to approve casino gambling in Nebraska.
She said she offered the tongue-in-cheek proposal to get her colleagues focused on the seriousness of the issue.
Supporters of the casino measure have complained that Nebraskans spend an estimated $250 million a year at casinos in Council Bluff, Iowa, just across the border from Omaha.
Brown later withdrew the amendment
Nice... I want to see Texas kick someones *** next time.

Shouldn't be too hard, we already took over Colorado, and threw all of our undesirables into Oklahoma.

This is interesting...it was actually someone running against Bush for governor that filed suit, (or intended to) against the state for violating the state constitution. His claim was that only a citizen of the state of Texas could hold the office of governor. Because George Bush was a citizen of the United States and not of the sovereign state of Texas he didn't qualify for office. This guys last name was Graham (SP), I knew his son when I was in the Corps, met the old man in San Diego at one of his seminars. He talked about rescinding his signature from voter registration, Social Security application, and several other self proclaiming US citizenship documents that were used to “permit” the government to take taxes from you. His claim was that without a social security number, you are not liable to pay taxes. Someone in the audience asked, well how are you supposed to secure a job without a SSN? He said you are required to give the number to an employer if you have one, but if you don’t have one…well you can’t be required to give something you don’t have. Then someone said what if they refuse employment, what could you do? He said, it would not be easy, but filing suit for religious discrimination is a legal angle. The claim, “deeply held religious convictions that the numbering of persons is against your principle”. John Quade picture (http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/PersonDetail/personid-14374) the actor was with him and spoke about some of the same topics.
The interesting point they all made was that they claimed to be true Patriots. At the time, Graham was involved in a scheme of issuing lines of credit to people to pay off debt with other lenders. He did this by issuing credit to the other lender, but never paid them real money. It was actually quite intricate; he explained some of it to me after the seminar, it was supposed to be the exact same thing the big lenders like Visa do. During the seminar he claimed it was unconstitutional to be put in prison for failing to pay debt. Funny thing was that he ended up in jail for the credit scheme; this all came down sometime around the election for governor. I lost track of his son soon after that, so I never found out what actually happened…The guy was deeply convinced he was in the right.

Yeah, that's right, tell 'em we want our money back. I think we paid....what?....5,000,000 pesos. (for what Santa Anna sold the land west of Texas for) The peso is worth about 1 cent in todays dollar ...The question is would the Mexico go for it - after all these years?
Tell 'em we'll throw in California and Oregon to sweeten the deal.

Amen to that. Those mexicans really need some more hot dry land. :D
If we're giving stuff back though can't we start with Al Sharpton? If Thulsa Doom and a Chihuahua bore a love child it would look and sound like Al. Don't get me wrong though, if I didn't get slapped all the time I'd be humping ten times as many legs as I do now.
