I was busy 'stealing' a boot disk when I noticed this on boot disk.com

Updated defrag (http://www.boogiejack.com/software/winmedefrag.zip) from WinMe works fine in Win95/98 and is 4 times faster

Not had chance to 'test' it yet ... so feedback would be nice !

Yep, it works, and it's probably better, although to be really sure how much I guess you'd have to do comparisons using each on a drive restored from an image. I certainly haven't tried that.

standard procedure here at work is to swap the 98 defrag for the winme defrag on all 98 machines before they enter the work (station) force.

I haven't done any stop watch benchmarks, but it certainly appears faster.

I put it on every 98 and 95 I come across. I finit has reduced the time on some machines as much as 20-25 minutes. Too bad there is nothing like this for W2k.

I don't suppose any of you have a downloadable version I could attain!?! Thing is I haven't seen a ME PC in a long time, and don't know when I will see another. I would like to test this out!

sure I'll pull it from the work network drive and post it to webspace. just give me a minute. . . I'll have to log out and log back into the network as a user that has access to that share.

I just downloaded it from confus-ed's link and it works great! Definitely faster.

I think I will use it on all of my Win9X machines.

I've used it for some time now and it's certainly a vast improvement over the old version. It's faster and appears to do the job sufficiently enough to send the old version to the recycle bin! Time is money!
