I recently posted AT WWW.TWEAKXP.COM in the General Windows Help for XP so you may see this post. Has anyone had these many problems with this card or is it just me? I want to take time out to thank the persons who posted the IRQ setting problem that I have in the other post. Unfortunately nothing changed my problem now is that I have one even more concerning than the orginal problem with the IRQ and 3d games (Delta Force Land Warrior & Black Hawk Down) both made by NovaLogic which below goes into detail. I switched the sound card to a different PCI slot that took care of one thing that was using the same IRQ setting as the video card but I still have this using the same IRQ setting as the video card which is OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller. The following is what my system consists of:
With the specs above I sent this to Best Buy to be put together and then not being able to play the above stated games cause the screen would lock up. After taking it back to Best Buy they concluded that it was indeed the video card. So with that I shipped the card back to ATI in Canada on May 9, 2003 and May 12, 2003 New York Distribution Center for ATI received it. Then they shipped the rest of the way to Canada. Where they almost had it a month (RETURNED IT TO ME ON JUNE 5, 2003). They found no fault with the card but as a precaution they replaced the unit with a factory set to default one. Needless to say I was really anxious to see if the Gremlins were worked out. Which they were not worked out I still have BHD (Black Hawk Down) lock up and DFLW (Delta Force Land Warrior) has NOT yet locked up on me. After 5 days I started to get BLUE & YELLOW lines in the screen consisted of dots that make up these lines I even went ahead and downloaded the newest drivers hoping that this would resolve this issue yup you guessed it didn't work either. Now these lines are in every window screen. First I thought it was the monitor switched that out as well still have the same problem. By the way Best Buy clocked the CPU in the BIOS at 1500 mhz instead of 2000 so I am running it lower than the AMD specs for the processor. With that and all the fans that I have in this case my processor is sitting at 39 C / 102-104 F with current settings now if I change the settings in the BIOS to 2000 the temp goes above 115 degres F. Oh one more thing with the fans I even went as far to put a Honeywell HOUSE fan on the side of this with the side panel removed and that is the temp I get 102 F HMMMMMMMM. I had planned on taking this back to Best Buy for them to fix the heating problem and the IRQ problem but I have found out that it is not uncommon for the new boards out to have same things sharing IRQ settings or is this a myth? But before I could do this I have this video problem. I even checked if the fan on the video card was spinning and it is at least one thing going right. The bios version currently on it is 1003 and ASUS has an updated one out 1004 which is not currently installed waiting for the floppy drive to come in just to be on the safe side since it has a flash bios it isn't required to have a floppy drive but since the luck that I have been having with this I can't afford to take a chances. If anyone has any ideas to RESOLVE this problem PLEASE HELP and thank you again for your time and cooperation in this matter.

So you have a 9700 video card that is locking up in certain games? Have you been to the game websites to see if there are patches?

115F is not a problem heatwise. 150F at idle would be a cause for concern.
