Hey guys....i am a beginner when it comes to VB. I had played around making a few basic things with VB5. At work the other day, I upgraded to VB.net..but the thing is, i dont like it. I can't seem to do anything with it. IT isn't really part of my job, i just use it for playing around making stupid little programs (subway order form was a big hit in the office). I tried uninstalling VB.net but when I try to install VB5, it stops responding. the install just sits there eating up 100% of my CPU and never goes through. any ideas? i dont have the time to learn VB.net....help please.

anyone?

When i insert the CD, it comes up and asks for the name, company and serial number. I do all of this, then i get the screen where I choose what i want to install. (see image below) when i click on Microsofr Visual Basic 5.0, i get an hourglass for a little while, then nothing. when i check task manager, ntvdm.exe is sucking up 99% of my cpu. I also tried Visual Fox Pro, but it does the same thing. I know it works, because i installed it fromt he same disk on here before.

I did an uninstall of visual studio.net, uninstalled the .net framework. and ran regcleaner to make sure the entries were all gone. but i still cant install VB5. any ideas?

I also tried copying the files to my hard drive and running it from there, but the same thing happens.

2. If the program is running, press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open the Windows Task Manager. On the Processes tab, look in the Image Name column for the name of the program's executable file. If any 16-bit programs are running, you'll find an entry for Ntvdm.exe, the virtual DOS machine. Just above it in the list, you'll see indented entries for Wowexec.exe (the Windows on Windows subsystem) and the executable name of each 16-bit program running in that virtual machine.

So it thinks its a 16bit program?

I dont know. when i go to device manager, i see ntvdm.exe which is what is locking up, but wowexec is not there.

is there maybe something else i have to remove? This installed perfectly fine on this computer before i installed Visual Studio.net I uninstalled visual studio.net and also the .net framework. The only thing i can think is that something else got updated when i installed VS.net and now that is preventing VS 97 from installing. any ideas?
